The twenty-four hour view

Chicago is on the shores of Lake Michigan - and living in Hyde Park (the University neighbourhood) is best when one is in a highrise on the Lakefront. The Twin Towers and Regent's Park Towers were literally filled with desi students (many in the Business School, some like us). And I'm sure all the residents loved what they saw. From their apartment. Every single day. The picture above is of the South Side - and you can see buildings in Indiana, in the distance.

You wake up in the morning (I did this only thrice in six years, I think - and once was specifically to take this picture!) and see this:

The Lake looks different at different times of the day.
The Lake looks different on different days in the year.

In June, we had rain:

Take a bow!

The next photo shows you a "touristy" place far, far away - called Navy Pier.

You can actually see it between the buildings that ruin our view of Lake Shore Drive and the Lake.

Not all pictures are pretty, though - and that tells you just how horrible the weather is. I shall end with a bleak, cold, windy day in August:
